This is a part of my life here. Sometimes, people don't listen but it doesn't mean that they still can't or don't learn.
My mom put the sheets from the bed that she and my dad share into the wash this Sunday morning.
My dad took them out when they were done and I helped him put the bed clothes back on the mattress and pillows.
He told me about which ones were his, and which ones were hers. He told me which one was her favourite, and which pillow - floppy, chunky, lumpy, fluffy, supportive - went into which corresponding pillow case of a variety of colours and patterns.
Dad’s not a perfectionist but he made sure that there were no creases in the sheets and that it was smooth on the surface of the mattress. If I messed up, I’d have to do it again.
“She always steals the blanket,” he always says, as he puts the last pillow in the middle. There is an uneven number of them. “We share that one,” he tells me. And we smile and laugh.
